Notes (weeks 33-35) - Break
August 24th, 2008I haven’t been able to do any work with CE for the past 2 weeks. There’s some higher priority things I need to take care of before continuing with CE. There’s not going to be any progress next week either but after that things should go back to normal.
Sorry for the lack of answers in the forum. I’ll go through all the new posts early next week.
Notes (week 32) - SVN Snapshot
August 9th, 2008Still no final release, instead yet another snapshot. This week wasn’t very productive but there was some progress. I made all folders work in the "Open new tab as" custom setting. Now you can use My Computer etc. in it. Also now when CE is in "Single Instance Only" mode, it becomes visible (and restored if minimized) when you try to launch another instance of CE.

Notes (week 31) - Ubuntu in use
August 1st, 2008Another week, another snapshot. I’ve fixed few bugs and added few items in Edit and View menu. Also I changed the tab behavior so that when you close last tab, CE will open the "home" folder. Also when drive or media (CD etc.) is removed, all tabs that were browsing those locations are now closed automatically. I didn’t have time to do much testing with that feature so please let me know how it works.
On other notes, I switched to Ubuntu in my laptop. I did do a dual boot install but haven’t used Windows at all after the switch. Or well, I have used it but it’s been inside Ubuntu with VirtualBox. All in all, I’ve enjoyed every minute of using Ubuntu instead of Windows. Only issue I noticed was the fact that the file manager isn’t very good. However I have a plan to fix that. The plan is called CubicExplorer Lite. It will be a simple cross-platform file manager. Nothing special, just tabs and bookmarks. The plan is that CubicExplorer 2.0 will be cross-platform app, and as it looks like I need to switch to another programming language to make that happen, CubicExplorer Lite will be a perfect learning project.
Anyway, CE Lite is not top priority project at the moment so can’t say when there’s going to be something to show. I’m still choosing the programming language (suggestions are welcome) so it might take a while.

Notes (week 30) - 0.90 RC 3
July 26th, 2008Yet another "release candidate". I’m hoping this will be last one and next release is 0.90 final. To this release I added an option to make CE select previous folder when you go back in history or folder up. Other changes are bug fixes (or fix attempts). The "wrong icon bug" should be hopefully fixed now.

Notes (week 29) - SVN Snapshot
July 19th, 2008Moving towards RC 3 which is scheduled for next Friday. This week I’ve done small changes here and there, fixed few bugs and added couple things. Runningwaterpro from the forum, requested to make CE open file/folder property sheet when you Alt + LeftDoubleClick over it. Because Alt + LeftClick is already in use, I had to use Alt + RightClick instead.
Also there are now options to make CE open new tab by default when you click a bookmark or folder in FolderPanel. When it’s used together with "Reuse already open tabs", it makes quite an interesting way of navigating the system 
.

Notes (week 28) - 0.90 RC 2
July 11th, 2008Back from the vacation, a break which was very welcome. This week mainly went in trying to solve all reported bugs. Some of them got fixed, some of them need testing to see if they are fixed. Rest of the bugs need revisiting. I added one new option for tabs, it’s the "Reuse already open tabs" toggle. Basically it means when you open a folder in a tab (middle click), and that folder is already open in another tab, CE will switch to that old tab instead of opening a new one. Also CE will now make itself visible when folders are opened from command line.
Those who have had problems when connecting network or other drives, please send a bug report if CE still keeps crashing.

PS. Anyone know how to make Samba work with Windows (or vice versa) when using user as security mode? I can get the share mode to work but not user mode.
Notes (week 26-27) - Vacation
June 30th, 2008So I decided to take few weeks off. The original plan was to take the break after 0.90 final release, but since it’s delayed and there’s lot’s of other stuff going on right now, I thought this would be a good time for the break.
On other notes, I’ve been fine tuning the new office and all I can say is, I love it. Productivity level has increased tons. To add even more productivity I installed another graphics card and two monitors. At the moment I have to use some old CRT monitors but at some point those should be switched to LCD panels. There’s never enough workspace .
Notes (week 25) - Happy Midsummer!
June 20th, 2008Slowly moving along. I managed to defend the flu from taking over my body. Although, it put on a good fight and tried to infect my bronchus. Anyway, I fix few bugs this week. Also I added an option to toggle if new tab (opened with middle click etc.) should be selected. Plus, there are new icons for tab related actions.

Notes (week 24) - New Office
June 14th, 2008So, this whole week went in building a new office and fighting against flu virus. I got pretty sweet deal on used, quality office tables and chairs. Although there are still few furniture I need to get, I’m very happy with the new office. Now there’s lot’s off workspace and no clutter. While working with the office, I let my guard down and the flu virus took over my body. It hasn’t kicked in fully yet, so there’s still hope since I have some ammo left.
Anyway, I hope I’m back to the schedule next week. It’s been a crazy month but things should cool down in July. Have a nice weekend everyone.
Notes (week 23) - Back to work
June 8th, 2008I got my energy back, no more sleepiness . Unfortunately I’ve been busy all week with other things so I didn’t have much time to work with CE. However, there are few bugs fixed so I’ll upload SVN snapshot. At least the shutdown bug (#133) needs testing so GTHK or anyone else suffering from this bug, please let me know if it’s fixed now.
On other notes, I made pretty sweet deal on some used office furniture. Tomorrow I’ll start to build my new office. It remains to be seen how much time it takes to finish it. I’m not yet sure about the 0.90 RC 2 release, scheduled for next Friday. There are few bugs left that need much work/time.
